Pilgrimage to Italy w/ Fr Stan & St Joseph Parish

Fr Walter Ptak & St Sebastian Parish Invite you on Pilgrimage to Italy


Day 1 Detroit > Rome

Overnight flight to Rome. Dinner and breakfast will be served on board.


Day 2  Rome, Ostia Antica, & St Paul Outside the Walls

Meet your guide and start your pilgrimage with a visit to Ostia Antica - a large archeological site that was the location of the harbor city of ancient Rome.  At the mouth of the River Tiber, Ostia was Rome's seaport, but due to silting the site now lies two miles from the sea.  The site is noted for the excellent preservation of its ancient buildings, magnificent frescoes and impressive mosaics.  Attend Holy Mass at Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls before checking into our 4-star hotel.  Afternoon at leisure before dinner. Day 3  Papal Audience, Vatican Museum and St. Peter’s Basilica

The Audience with the Pope consists of small teachings and at the end of the Audience, the Pope will pray the Our Father, and will impart his Apostolic Blessing upon the crowd.  The Vatican Museums contain masterpieces of painting, sculpture and other works of art collected by the popes through the centuries.  St. Peter's Basilica is one of the holiest sites in Christendom, standing on the traditional site where Peter - the first pope - was crucified and buried. Holy Mass - Santa Maria alle Fornaci church or near the hotel (TBD).  (B | L | D)


Day 4  Montecassino & Sorrento

This morning, we travel to the Abbey of Montecassino, founded in 529 by St Benedict making it one of Europe’s oldest monasteries.  After a guided tour and Holy Mass , we will continue to the beautiful city of Sorrento located on Naples Bay.  Enjoy an afternoon and evening at leisure exploring the many sites such as the Duomo, Basilica di Sant’Antonino, Centro Storico (historic center), and the Vallone dei Mulini.  (B | L | D)


Day 5 Amalfi Coast

Today we enjoy a boat tour up the incomparable Amalfi Coast including stops in Positano and Amalfi.  In Positano we will visit the Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta, stroll the beautiful streets and waterfront, and enjoy a famous Limoncello. Amalfi is home to the Duomo di Sant'Andrea housing relics of St Andrew, fabulous shops and restaurants.  Lunch in Amalfi before our boat ride to Sorrento and motor coach back to Rome for dinner and overnight. Day 6 Imperial Rome and Papal Basilicas

Morning guided tour of the Roman Forum and Colosseum (outside only) and the Mamertine Prison (tradition tells us both St. Paul and St. Peter were imprisoned here, Peter before his crucifixion).  Tour the St Sebastian Catacombs and celebrate Holy Mass.  Afternoon guided tour of St Mary Major and St John Lateran Basilicas.  St John Lateran being the oldest consecrated church in western Christendom and the official basilica of the Bishop of Rome (Pope Francis). Day 7  St Peter’s Basilica and Baroque Rome

This morning we celebrate Holy Mass and the anniversary of St Faustina’s canonization at St Peter’s Basilica.  After lunch, a guided tour of the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps.  Evening at leisure.  (B | L)


Day 8 Castel Gandolfo  

Half day guided tour of the Pontifical Villas of Castel Gandolfo.  Now a museum, it had served for centuries as a summer residence and vacation retreat for the Pope. Return to Rome for afternoon of leisure.  (B | L | D)


Day 9  Rome > Detroit

After breakfast, transfer to Rome airport for our flight back home after a life changing spiritual journey through Italy. B
