DAY 1 & 2 DETROIT>ROME
Depart USA on direct overnight flight to Rome, Italy. On arrival at Rome airport your director will greet you and escort you to your air conditioned coach. After checking into our hotel and having lunch, we will have a half day guided tour of Baroque Rome (Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and the Piazza Navona). (B|L|D)

DAY 3 ROME
A full day of sightseeing in Rome will reveal its great history and architectural beauty. Entrance to the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica will satisfy your morning curiosity and in the afternoon your guided tour takes in Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum. Tonight we enjoy dinner at wonderful Roman restaurant. (B|D)

DAY 4 ROME / NAPLES / SORRENTO
We leave Rome today and begin our culinary adventure. Our first stop is Naples, the home of the world’s greatest pizza. We will have a pizza cooking class and learn the secrets to making the Neapolitan pizza. We will then continue on to Boscotrecase on Mt Vesuvius overlooking the Bay of Naples to visit Azienda Vinicola Sorrentino for a tasting of 3 wines (white, red, pink). The wine will be served with snacks. We drive around Naples Bay to our hotel in beautiful Sorrento. (B|D)

DAY 5 SORRENTO / POSITANO / AMALFI
This morning we enjoy a full day guided tour of the Amalfi Coast. Considered by many to be the most beautiful stretch of coastline in the world. We will visit the incomparable towns of Positano with the church of Santa Maria Assunta and the beautiful Maria Grande Beach, and Amalfi (UNESCO World Heritage Site) with the Cathedral of St Andrew and the Piazza Duomo. Both towns have wonderful cafes and shopping. Back to our hotel in Sorrento. (B|D)

DAY 6 SORRENTO / CAPACCIO
Today we are off to Capaccio, where we will visit the Vannulo Mozzarella Cheese Factory. After a tour we will have a delicious lunch of stuffed crepes filled with ricotta cheese and spinach, mozzarella and ricotta cheese, tomatoes salad, green salad, yogurt and ice cream. Dinner in Sorrento at a local restaurant. (B|L|D)

DAY 7 SORRENTO
Today we visit the unique Agriturismo Galatea, a fully organic, working farm where we will have cooking classes to learn the local dishes including gnocci. After, we will enjoy a wonderful lunch of gnocchi, baked pork loin with endives, and homemade jam tart. We return to Sorrento for a free afternoon and evening at leisure to explore the city. (B|L)

DAY 8 SORRENTO / POMPEII / ROME
After breakfast, visit the famous ruins of Pompeii for a guided tour of this extraordinary archeological site. Pompeii was buried under ash and pumice after the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79 A.D. The objects that lay beneath the city have been preserved for close to two millennium and provide an extraordinarily detailed insight into the life of a city during the Pax Romana. Return Rome for dinner and overnight. (B|D)

DAY 9 ROME
Today we have a half day of sightseeing including Arch of Constantine, Monument Vittorio Emanuelle II, Circus Maximus, and more. We will then have a cooking class and enjoy lunch at the world famous “Alfredo alla Scrofa,” the very place where Fettuccini Alfredo was invented. The final evening is free for us to explore and enjoy the Emerald City at leisure. (B|L)

DAY 10 ROME > DETROIT
After breakfast, transfer to Rome airport for our flight back home after a culinary and wine adventure through southern Italy. B
