DAY 1: DEPART USA Begin our pilgrimage to The Holy Land with an overnight flight to Tel Aviv.
DAY 2: TEL AVIV / THE SEA OF GALILEE On arrival in Tel Aviv we will be met by our guide and start our journey with a visit to Caesarea Maritima and the impressive archaeological remains of the Roman city including Herod the Great’s palace. It was here Peter baptized the first Gentiles, and Paul set sail for Rome for his future trial and martyrdom. It’s then on to the Magdala Center and Hotel on the Sea of Galilee with lunch on the way. Upon arrival we will check in and have some time to relax before we celebrate Holy Mass at the Duc in Altum chapel. The rest of the afternoon at leisure before dinner and overnight at the hotel. DAY 3: CANA / NAZARETH / MT TABOR Our day begins with a visit to Cana where Jesus performed His first miracle of turning water into wine. For those who wish, they may perform the renewal of their wedding vows. After, we go to Nazareth where we will visit the Basilica of the Annunciation where the angel Gabriel told Mary she would conceive the son of God and where God became flesh. We then travel to Mount Tabor, the site of the Transfiguration, where Jesus revealed His glory. Back to our hotel for dinner and overnight. B|D
DAY 4: MOUNT OF BEATITUDES / CAESAREA PHILIPPI / MAGDALA We start the day at the Mount of Beatitudes, scene of the Sermon on the Mount. Here we will celebrate Holy Mass and spend time contemplating Jesus’s words from Matthew 5. We then journey into the Upper Galilee and the site of Caesarea Philippi. It was here that Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do you say I am?” And Peter replied, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” After lunch at a local restaurant, we return to our hotel for our guided tour of the first century town of Magdala and home of St Mary Magdalen. DAY 5: THE SEA OF GALILEE - Today we start at Tabgha and the Church of Fish and Loaves where Jesus fed the 5,000 and then the site known as “Peter’s Primacy” where Jesus told Peter to “feed my lambs; feed my sheep.” On to Capernaum where Jesus launched his ministry and where we will see the synagogue dated to the time of Jesus and the church built over the site of Peter’s home. After we enjoy a lunch of “St Peter Fish” in Tiberias, we sail on the Sea of Galilee and ponder Jesus walking on water and calming the storm. Back to our hotel for dinner and overnight. B|L|D
DAY 6: SEA OF GALILEE/ JORDAN VALLEY / QUMRAN / DEAD SEA After morning Mass at the Magdala Center Duc in Altum chape, we depart Galilee and drive south to Jericho, the world’s oldest continuously inhabited city, to view the Mount of Temptation and see an example of a Sycamore Tree up which Zacchaeus climbed to see Jesus. From there we will descend to the Jordan River to the baptismal site tradition tells John baptized Jesus. After, we visit Qumran, have lunch, and learn of the Dead Sea Scrolls. We will then have a float in the Dead Sea before we drive up to the City of David - Jerusalem. Dinner at the hotel. B|D
DAY 7: EIN KAREM / EMMAUS NICOPOLIS / MT ZION / WESTERN WALL – We begin the day with a visit to Ein Karem, birthplace of John the Baptist. We visit the church commemorating his birthplace and the Church of the Visitation where Mary visited Elizabeth and prayed the Magnificat. We then drive to Emmaus where Jesus broke bread and revealed himself to the two disciples with whom he walked from Jerusalem after his resurrection. After lunch we visit The Upper Room on Mt Zion before walking to the Western Wall, the holiest site in Judaism. Back to our hotel in Jerusalem. B|D
DAY 8: MT. OF OLIVES / GETHSEMANE / ST PETER IN GALLICANTU We ascend Mount of Olives to visit the Pater Noster shrine where Jesus taught His disciples The Lord’s Prayer. Walking down the Palm Sunday Road we stop at the beautiful Dominus Flevit Church - “The Lord Wept.” We continue to the Garden of Gethsemane and visit the Church of All Nations to pray at the “Rock of Agony,” where Jesus prayed on the night of His arrest. From there, we visit Peter in Gallicantu, “Crowing Rooster,” church built over the site of the house of the High Priest Caiaphas and commemorating Peter’s denial of Jesus. The rest of the afternoon is free to spend in the Old City of Jerusalem. B|D
DAY 9: BETHLEHEM / SHEPHERD’S FIELD Today we visit the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem where will descend to the Grotto of the Nativity. Here, the second holiest site on all Christianity, Jesus Christ was born to the Virgin Mary. Mass at the Church of St. Catherine. After Mass we will have lunch before continuing on to see the caves at the Shepherds’ Field which still have soot marks of the fires the shepherds lit to keep warm. Back to our hotel in Jerusalem. DAY 10: HOLY SEPULCHRE / VIA DOLOROSA We start our day with an early Holy Mass at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Here is the site of Calvary and the Tomb of Christ. We will then transfer back to the hotel for breakfast and some relaxation before continuing our day. We will then visit St Anne’s Church, the birthplace of Our Lady, the Pools of Bethesda where Jesus healed the paralytic, and then start the Via Dolorosa at the Antonia Fortress where Jesus was condemned to death by Pontius Pilate. We process and pray the Stations of the Cross through the markets of the Old City to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Lunch on our own and the rest of the afternoon is free to explore the Old City before our Farewell Dinner. B|D
DAY 11: HOLY LAND > HOME Today we transfer to the airport for our flight home after a spiritual journey in the footsteps of Jesus. Shalom and God bless!
