FEBRUARY 16-17: USA>AMMAN

Begin our pilgrimage to The Holy Land with an overnight flight to Amman, Jordan. Upon arrival at Queen Alia airport we will be met by our tour manager and transferred to the hotel.  A late dinner will be waiting before overnight. (D)

FEBRUARY 18: MACHAERUS – MT NEBO – ST GEORGE CHURCH – PETRA
After breakfast, we start our journey with a drive to the desert fortress of Machaerus.  It was here that Herod Antipas, the son of Herod the Great, had John the Baptist beheaded (Matthew 14:1-12).  From there we will continue on to Mt Nebo.  The Lord told Moses to ascend Mt Nebo where he would be able to see the Promised Land but not enter (Deuteronomy 32:48-52).

After lunch, we will walk to the early Byzantine Church of Saint George (6th century) and view the Madaba Mosaic Map of the Holy Land. The Madaba Map depicts part of the Middle East and contains the oldest surviving original cartographic depiction of the Holy Land and especially Jerusalem.  We then drive to Petra for dinner and overnight at our hotel.  (B|L|D)

FEBRUARY 19: PETRA

Arrange early breakfast at the hotel, we depart for Petra, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Today we will walk through the rose-colored canyon to Petra, a city dating back to 300 B.C., which was literally cut into the cliff sides.  We will visit various temples, the Amphitheater, the Monastery, the Streets of Columns, and the Treasury. After lunch in a local restaurant, we continue on to our or hotel on the Dead Sea for dinner and overnight. (B|L|D)

February 20: PETRA – ALLENBY BRIDGE – NETANYA

This morning we will have time for a float in the Dead Sea before checking out of our hotel and departing for Israel.  After lunch at a local restaurant, we will make our way to the board crossing at Allenby Bridge.  From there we will drive to the resort city of Netanya on the Mediterranean Sea where will meet the rest of the Holy Land pilgrims.  Dinner and overnight at the hotel.  (B|L|D)
